E went early to bed last night (19.00) after an afternoon nap.She sounded terrible when she first went to sleep-very blocked up,but during the night her breathing changed and became much easier.Apparently she also had a good sweat,so awoke feeling significantly better and ready to cycle. So at 07.00 we set off, again a light breeze,16°C and only 71 miles for the day.The first half of the ride up to the first stop was very pleasant, slight inclines, residential properties and light traffic. We were mainly on country roads and flitted in and out of company with Heinz and Sohrab.Nothing to photograph, but plenty of birdsong and a keen eye kept on Elizabeth's progress.33 miles to the stop passed very uneventfully and pleasantly.Refilled our bottles and stocked up on small cakes and we were off.Elizabeth content that should could manage the next 38 miles.
A lot of this second part we cycled parallel to the same canal as featured yesterday,Eyrie Canal State Park.often times it looked in need of a good clean up,but there was a gravel tow path running alongside long portions,so could become a real treasure.

Reminded me of my ride with Ben along the tow path of the Rhine and Rhone canal. We took a left onto this road so kne we were heading in the correct direction, will not be long now until we are
there. The road surface quality deteriorated as we progressed and the surroundings became less salubrious, more old and decrepit buildings, more ruts in the road, more humidity, but steadily less miles.Elizabeth keeping up well and looking strong, not too many coughs and sneezes.
We arrived at Herkimer at 12.45 and knew the hotel was just around the corned,so we stopped at MacDonalds for some lunch.Standing in the queue we were asked by a gentleman as to where we were cycling. We explained that we were stopping in Herkimer for the night and then onto Boston. He asked as to our starting point and when he heard that we had cycled from Los Angeles ,asked as to our purpose. When we told him it was for a Zambian charity he put $5 in my hand as a donation.Bless him.
Now hair is washed, does get very dirty quickly, washing done and tomorrows route inspected.Looks as if we are in for some showers and possibly an unfavourable wind, but sufficient unto the day.
3188 miles completed and 94572 ft climbed, two big climbing days still to come so we will end up over the 100,000 mark.Something to look forward to,E not so keen!
