Indianapolis

Firstly I must update you on yesterday evening. We had a pleasant meal in a restaurant called 'The Cracker Barrel',over the meal it was announced that we would leave at 08.00 today and at 19.00 in the foyer of the hotel there would be some music.
At 19.00 we were there to find that some friends of Nan had travelled to meet her and bought their instruments.A mandolin,a banjo and a guitar added to Nan's penny whistle. The guitarist was good, the mandolin player sensational,a previous winner of the national championship.Together they played a collection of Irish jigs, american folk and even a Welsh tune.

I will try and insert a clip,if it does not run I am sorry
A brilliant end to yesterday.Today we only had a 55 mile ride, hence the later start.Weather cool to start, another jacket day,and a cross wind becoming a tail wind.So by 09.30 we were at the days refreshment stop, and as my cold was a liitle worse than yesterday we did not linger but pushed on towards the goal.
The last few miles were along a beautiful trail, very good to get off the road and enjoy some peaceful scenery.

The only problem was there was a festival on later today so our bridge was closed and we had to retrace our steps to an earlier bridge and then find our way back to the correct route for the GPS to function.Mission accomplished we found that we would have a long wait for a room,so E and I changed and walked into town for lunch and a bit of sightseeing.
The canal, our hotel is the first  building on the right.Below the Capitol building.

The city is beautifully laid out and very attractive, and for once we are within walking distance of the Downtown area.During our amble we came across this sign
which was continued on the other side
Food for thought in a bastion of civilisation, but in one sense it sums up so many of the contradictions of the USA.
We walked back to the hotel where I had a recuperative snooze and all being well will be fit to ride tomorrow.
