Rest Day!

Yesterday evening we had an excellent dinner at the Red Lobster, sad to tell I found myself saying "tomorrows rought",quickly corrected but noted by our dinner companions and suitably commented on! Yesterday afternoon you saw Elizabeth lounging in the sunshine, all different today with rain, strong winds and cold.
Went down to breakfast this morning to find everybody planning to go and buy more clothes,as the forecast temperature for tomorrow morning is snow and 2°C.These sort of temperatures were not part of our pre trip planningalthough as we are currently at 2160 metres above sea level and the local ski resort is still open,we maybe should have .So we duly walked down to REI,a large sports store much like Decathalon, and purchased leg warmers and full finger gloves, see below.Went to the queue to pay for our purchases to find a long line getting rapidly longer, and one poor guy struggling to cope.He constantly asked for help into his microphone but nobody came. Finally he twigged that he was set to the wrong frequency, and in seconds a swarm of assistants arrived to relieve us of our money.

We walked on from the shop to the Flagstaff Christian Fellowship to receive a very warm welcome, cheese and  biscuits, donuts and coffee.A good service and a walk back through gentle rain and a cold wind.Had our sandwiches ,that we had bought yesterday and retired to the lounge here in front of the fire.

Anyway Elizabeth has bought the washing up to date, the bags are being repacked, and the Crossroads team have bought us hand warmers for the morning.

Bath scraped into the champions cup for next season and England won the cricket so plenty of good news around and if I blog tomorrow you will know that I am not frozen by the roadside.

  1. Rubber gloves under your cycling gloves will help keep your hands warm. Ask housekeeping if they will give you a couple pair. Plastic bags over your shoes as well. Oh, if there are shower caps in your room, put them over your helmets! It may be cold, but you should have a helping wind tomorrow. Stay safe.
