A restful day shopping for Elizabeth,contributing to the California economy,and meeting most of the other riders.The Californian economy at $3 trillion is the largest subnational economy in the world and,if it was a country,would be the fifth largest economy in the world,bigger than the UK or France.It also has an enormous number of cars,as we can testify from trying to cross the road!But with a population of about 40 million that is not surprising.
The weather has continued unseasonably cool-long may it continue-with the temperature only reaching 19°.

Peyton,mechanic,delightful and has the bikes working well
Jim,just with us for the first,busy,week
Debbie,with us until Santa Fe
Rick-doing his 23 cycle to Boston,mechanic and expert on the route.
Had our first ride in the USA this afternoon,a gentle ride down to the beach and along the front.Very calm so felt sorry for all the surfers standing and waiting.
